New Equipment Update


Here is a quick look at some of the new equipment you’ll find in the equipment room.  Remember, it’s important that you’re properly trained on the use of this equipment to avoid injury to yourself and others, and to avoid damage to the equipment.

10x H4N Zoom Audio Recorders Kits

Applications: Audio Interviews, Phone interviews (with phone attachment), Audio record in conjunction with DSLRs and video cameras.
The H4N Zoom is a versatile audio recording device with a built in microphone and combination XLR and 1/4″ jacks for attaching external microphones or audio sources.

9x DSLR Kits

Applications:  High quality video capture, EFP field productions
These are the same DSLR cameras but we put them into a larger bag along with the audio Beechtek interface, and Hoodman LCD screen cover.  Additionally we purchased new carbon ultra light tripods with video heads for use with these kits too!

5x Lowel Rifa lights

Applications: ENG and EFP productions
These lighting kits are great for producing good light with limited shadows.  They have 200 watt bulbs included.

1x Slider with Pan / Tilt Head

Applications: Creating visual interest in long format and documentary stories.
This is a Cinevate Duzi two-foot slider with a Manfrotto pan/tilt head.  This slider will carry a DSLR or a camcorder the size of our NX5u.  It can be mounted on a  heavy duty tripod or set on a table.

1x GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition Kit

Applications: Mounting cameras for otherwise difficult to acquire shots, such as in a car
Our GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition Kit includes a tonne of mounting accessories.  It also has WiFi connectivity to you can frame your shot using the GoPro app on your smartphone.

Greg originally joined Sheridan as a part-time professor in 2000 and has since logged over 1700 hours of classroom teaching. In 2001 he took the position of Technical Producer and supports the Journalism New Media and Journalism programs. Prior to coming to Sheridan Greg had worked at three national broadcasters, ‘The Score”, “Sportsnet”, and CTV. Greg also shot, produced, and directed a travel documentary called “Real Travels” that aired on Discovery USA and OLN. Greg also co-founded a digital media company called Filemobile. Filemobile grew to be Canada’s leader in providing social media networking and citizen journalism services to some of the country’s leading broadcast and media companies until it was sold in 2015 to NewZulu.
