Introducing the AVID Newsroom System

Introducing the AVID Newsroom System
This year we’re taking a huge step to match industry technology with our course curriculum. Broadcasters throughout Canada have been making a switch to Avid’s iNews rundown creation software. It is our mandate to keep up with changes in industry, and therefore we will also be switching to iNews.
But it doesn’t end there! With Apple pulling support on their Final Cut Server product line, we needed to find a replacement for that technology. Since Avid is a leader in shared storage technology, we decided to purchase a system that would keep with industry standards, but would also integrate several platforms together into one unified, simple solution.
Along with our iNews system, we’ve also implemented an ISIS (Infinitely Scalable Intelligent Storage) solution from Avid, which utilizes a content management database called Interplay. All of the systems integrate together to create a functional system that will simplify our broadcast workflow.
We’ve put together some documentation on how the system all works together. Download the PowerPoint and Word document below.
