Avid Connect @ NAB

Avid Connect and the Customer Association was today.

Louis Hernandez Jr unveiled their new product line.

It has been a wonderful opportunity to meet many of the educators to discuss solutions.

At one point during Louis’s keynote he displayed a slide with all of the education customers and our institution was front and centre.  Can you spot our new logo? 🙂

Some of the highlights include.

Media Composer / First  –  a free version of Media Composer with basic editing functions.  It includes up to 3 cloud projects and up to 4 video and 8 audio tracks

Artist / DNxIO  – New high-resolution video interface for Ultra HD, 2K and 4K.  Developed in partnership with Blackmagic Design.  It offers Real-time DNxHR encoding in hardware and is an open solution that works with Avid, Adobe and Apple.

Sibelius –  There is an option to purchase or subscribe and is optimized for Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3

ISIS / 1000  –  This is a newer small version of shared storage of 20TB (scalable up to 80TB).  It is designed specifically for small audio and video productions suites.  It will be interesting to find out whether we can add this to our existing newsroom system as a separate storage workspace that other programs (ATVF – BFTV) can utilize.

Interplay / MAM5  – a complete Media Asset Management solutions that encompasses the entire media lifecycle from acquisition to distribution.

I will be spending time at both the Avid booth and have setup times with our Avid education representative to drill down into the details.  Please comment if you would like to know any of the specifics about these new releases.

cheers
